Introduction to Honda ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control)

Honda Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is an advanced driver-assistance feature that automatically maintains a preset speed while keeping a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. Available on many Honda models through the Honda Sensing safety suite, ACC greatly reduces driver workload on highways and in stop-and-go traffic.

At the heart of Honda ACC is the Multipurpose Camera Unit (MPCU), mounted behind the windshield. This camera continuously reads the road ahead and works together with the radar sensor to detect vehicles, lane markings and speed signs, feeding real-time data to the vehicle's advanced driver-assistance computer.

What Does Honda ACC Control?

The Honda Sensing system combines several functions that share the same camera module, including:

ACC — Adaptive Cruise Control that follows the vehicle ahead at a set distance.

LKAS — Lane Keeping Assist System that gently steers to keep the vehicle centered in its lane.

CMBS — Collision Mitigation Braking System that can automatically apply the brakes.

RDM — Road Departure Mitigation that helps prevent unintended lane departure.

Auto High-Beam — automatically switches between high and low beams.

Why Does the U3000-49 Fault Appear?

The code U3000-49 indicates an internal electronic failure of the Multipurpose Camera Unit. When this code sets, the camera module can no longer support ACC, LKAS, CMBS, RDM and Auto High-Beam, causing multiple dashboard warnings to appear at once.

Thermal stress is the leading cause. The camera housing sits in a black enclosure directly against the windshield, where solar loading creates extreme heat that degrades internal solder joints, ICs or the image sensor over time.

Repair or Replace?

For the U3000-49 fault, a full camera replacement can be expensive and often requires ADAS re-calibration. A circuit-level repair kit offers a more cost-effective alternative. Kingda Tech supplies Honda ACC repair kits that address the internal electronic failure while retaining the original LKAS lane keeping assist function — with direct replacement and no calibration required.
